
Counseling and psychotherapy can assist your child in case of behavioral problems or to cope with difficult circumstances.
Areas where counseling might be indicated:
Support is available to young people and parents, with the focus on enabling families to cope with difficult circumstances and provide techniques and strategies to help manage these difficulties. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) focuses on the here and now, looking at individuals’ thoughts, feelings and actions as a means of understanding behaviour. By becoming aware of these elements and the impact they have on our daily lives, changes can be made.
Counselling is available for individuals presenting with:
- anxiety disorders
- mood disorders
- phobias
- eating disorders
- behavioural issues
- school refusal
- self esteem concerns
- grief
- enuresis
- anger management
- adjustment issues
- social skills concerns
- communication and parenting issues
Sessions run for 60 minutes and are available in three formats: a 1-to-1 basis, as a family, or if numbers permit a specific (e.g. social skills, communication) group (min 4 – max 8).
