Targets specific learning difficulties, Educational Therapy focuses on remediation of academic skills:
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- ESL (English as Second Language)
- Phonological Awareness
Educational therapy services offer remediation and therapy for all educational and academic needs ranging from literacy and numeracy intervention, remediation for children with learning difficulties (otherwise known as dyslexia, dyscalculia) and curriculum support.
Interest in reading, spelling strategies and multi-sensory methods of learning are incorporated into a customized programmed to make the learning effective, long-term and most of all, fun. Goals are determined at the start of the programme using existing assessment, if any. Alternately, an assessment may be conducted or a referral to the in-house Educational psychologist may be made if diagnosis or initial assessment is deemed necessary.
The programme is built and executed using a variety of proven approaches and studies. Learning is brought about through fun, yet structured activities that are aligned to the needs and the learning profile of the students. Liaison and interaction with the child’s school is also facilitated (if permitted) to bring about application of learning and conscious uniformity in instruction, as much as possible.
A retest is conducted at the end of each learning cycle that lasts for approximately 6 months and results are compared to initial assessments in order to determine the progress, set new goals or consider graduating from therapy.
Summarily, educational therapy aims at identifying and reducing learning obstacles in a manner that is fun, progressive and successful, and endeavours to assist children with their learning to steer their way through school years.
